There are lots of job opportunities at High Adventure OEC (Yorkshire Dales) and our 2 Summer Camps (Staffordshire & The Lakes).
Yorkshire Dales:
Trainee Outdoor Instructors (5 positions)
Start Date: 1st February 2009 (12 month contract – with the possibility to continue onto the Developing Instructor Scheme – see our website for more details)
Selection weekend: Friday 5th – Sunday 7th December 2008
Pay: £300 per month + Board & Lodgings + Registration fees & log book fees to the relevant National Governing Bodies + Training & Assessment fees for the relevant NGB Awards (as per below) + £200 technical clothing allowance.
There are 5 positions available all to start 1st February 2009 to last 12 months.
During the year you will be expected to work towards your National Governing Body qualifications in the following:
Climbing: Single Pitch Award
Caving: Level 1 Local Cave Leaders Award
Canoeing: Level 1 Canoe Coach, 1 star, 2 star & 3 star Canoe, Canoe Safety Test, Level 2 Canoe Coach (if your ability is proven)
Mountain Biking: Level 1 – Trail Leader & Level 2 – Technical Leader
1st Aid
added to these will be training and assessment in
High Ropes Course
Low ropes Course
Archery
Orienteering
Indoor Climbing Wall
With training & continued professional development in all areas surrounding the work required of an instructor in a medium sized outdoor education centre.
The position comes with domestic duties which should not be overlooked, the domestic duties involve working every other weekend in a domestic capacity.
Your duties would include food delivery & cleaning the centre during the weekend.
High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre is a medium sized centre sitting on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales (5 miles south of Skipton). Catering for School & Youth groups, Stag & Hen weekend groups & Corporate groups.

These positions will be formally advertised from September 2008. A ‘Selection Weekend’ will take place in early December 2008, with all 5 positions to start on 1st February 2009.

This has an outline of our current DI intake and profile of our DI’s. It should be noted that the DI scheme often see’s some of the previous years TI’s moving through to complete a 2nd year at HA.

Lakes: Summer Multi Activity Instructor (20 Positions)
(minimum age 18)
This post is ideal for anyone aspiring to be an Outdoor Instructor or anyone with interests in the outdoors who would like the experience of working with children. The ideal candidate would have experience working with groups and skills in one or more outdoor areas though most important will be a proven passion for the outdoors.
We will provide full training in all our on-site activities and a HSE recognised first aid qualification prior to being in charge of groups.
Contract length: TBA (late May to July 2009)

- Working jointly you will have responsibility for delivering quality meals from a well equipped camp kitchen for large numbers of school children.
- Based at our camp in Staffordshire you will be provided with tented accommodation and all meals
- Shifts are split and are approximately 7:30 – 10:30am and 3:30 – 8:30pm
- All work is Monday to Friday
- Successful candidates will have some experience catering for large numbers and a healthy sense of humour.
- Includes all board and lodgings

Camp / Kitchen assistant: Staffordshire Summer Camp (2 Positions)
- In addition to helping the Kitchen team you will also be responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of the tents. You will be involved in the set up in your first week and then the upkeep from then on.
- Assisting our Chef and cooks you will have responsibility for assisting in delivering quality meals from a well equipped camp kitchen for large numbers of school children.
- Preparation of food and washing up will not play a small part in your usual routine
- Based at our camp in Staffordshire you will be provided with tented accommodation and all meals
- Shifts are split and are approximately 7:30 – 10:30am and 3:30 – 8:30pm
- All work is Monday to Friday
- Successful candidates will have some experience and a healthy sense of good humour.
- Includes all board and lodgings
Contract length: TBA (late May to July 2009)
